Steven Turner

Steven Turner was elected as the Chairman of WASINC International in September 2007.  His first order of business was to locate the corporate headquarters in Hong Kong and then open a Representitive Office in Shenzhen, China.  The move to China represents our commitment to our Asian customers as well as the pilots that serve them.  WASINC International is the largest leasing company in China as well as serving customers in Japan and Turkey.

Steve started his own consuting business in June of 1998.  In April of 2001, Steve changed the name of his company to World Aviation Systems, Inc., moved his corporate headquarters to Las Vegas, Nevada, and expanded his business portfolio to include pilot leasing, aviation consulting and training services.  In addition to leasing pilots to the premier international carriers of the world, he specializes in helping organizations develop customer service strategies, systems to measure the effectiveness of such strategies, and working within organizations to successfully change corporate mindsets.  His strength is in developing lasting customer-driven solutions, changing corporate cultures, and focusing all changes to financial bottom line discipline.  Steven is an effective leader who has the ability to develop a meaningful “Vision” and the ability to communicate the steps necessary to make the “Vision” a reality.

Prior to forming his own firm, Steven was hired by Northwest Airlines from 1992 to 1998 as the Director, Customer Service - Pacific Division based in Tokyo, Japan.  He was responsible for all airport operations in Japan, China, and Southest Asia - Northwest's largest and most important region. 

Prior to joining Northwest, Steve, as a senior consultant, ran the Japan office of Performa International -- an international consulting company based in Hong Kong specializing in developing and implementing corporate change strategies in airlines, hotels, and banks.

Before joing Performa International, Steve worked eleven years for Japan Airlines in Ahchorage, Chicago, and the Head Office of Tokyo, Japan as Manager, In-Flight Marketing.

Fluent in Japanese, Steve has enjoyed spending more than half of his adult life in Asia.  Steven is currently based in Shenzhen, China and reports directly to the board.


Dave Ross

Dave Ross is the President and CEO of WASINC International, Ltd.   He is responsible for all recruiting and business development for our customers in China.

Dave comes to WASINC with an extensive background in the airline industry.   He has worked for years in a variety of leadership positions. After beginning his career with stops at Western Airlines, Korean Airilnes and Japan Airlines, Dave the spent the next 22 years at Delta Air Lines where he held various leadership positions. Most recently he was Regional Director of the Northwest region, responsible for safety, customer service and operational performance of 15 cities in the region. Additionally, Dave was responsible for budgetary oversight, facilities, and coordination with alliance partners, contractors and airport authorities. Prior assignments included Regional Manager of Global Training, responsible for all training delivered in 52 Delta non-U.S. cities. Responsibilities included coordination with operational leaders regarding training needs, designing and implementing training strategy from corporate initiatives to functional training. He has coordinated activities at the Paris, France training facility and other locations throughout the world. Dave has designed and facilitated leadership development courses to all levels of management and frontline staff including Coaching, Mentoring and Change Management.
Dave has a total of 29 years in the airline industry.
Dave is no stranger to Asia. He has lived and worked in Japan and speaks fluent Japanese. His diverse experiences with contractors, clients and customers alike have given him a unique customer-focused perspective.

Yoshihiro Takahashi

Yoshihiro (Yoshi) Takahashi is a founding partner, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of WASINC International and its partner company, World Aviation Systems Inc. since 2001. He is directly responsible for the delivery of the “Value Proposition” to our core customers.  In addition, Yoshi is responsible for Finance/Accounting and Business Development for our customers in Japan. 
Prior to starting WASINC International, Yoshi worked for Japan Airlines for nine years; 1992-2001. He started as a manager of the Finance Department in the Corporate Headquarters based in Tokyo, Japan and was then transferred to the regional headquarters - the America’s as the Director, Legal, Insurance, Taxation, Finance, & Human Resource department based in New York City together with his family.
 
Yoshi started his professional career in 1979 with Sumitomo Bank – one of the top five banks in the world – where he served for 13 years. He began working in the branch offices in the loan & sales departments and was quickly promoted up through the ranks to Chief Bond Trader at its Headquarters where he was directly responsible for over $1 Billion USD of trading per day. 
 
Yoshi is a graduate of Osaka University in Japan and is currently based in Beijing, China.
 

Captain Douglas L. Ward

Captain Doug Ward is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of WASINC International, Ltd.  

As a corporate officer, Doug will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the operations group. As COO, Doug will be one of the highest ranking members of the WASINC organization and will monitor the daily operations of the company. He will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Doug’s focus will be on strategic, tactical, and short-term operations management, which means he is responsible for the design, operation, and improvement of the systems that create and deliver the “Value Proposition” to our customers. In short, his primary concern is operations improvement.

Doug will be in charge of all Flight Operations including flight deck crew at all of our airline customers.  Doug will be based in our Shenzhen, China office and is currently flying as an active B737-800 Captain at Shenzhen Airlines. Captain Ward has over 13,000 hours of flight time, including Captain on the DC-10, B737, B727, F27, & SA-227 to name a few. He has also served as a Check Airman and Instructor. Doug is married and has two small daughters. Doug’s extensive background as a captain, check airman, instructor, and having done the majority of recruiting some of the best pilots in the world for WASINC, makes him uniquely qualified for this important position.


Captain Thomas Macallister


V.P. Flight Operations-Japan & Chief Pilot Skymark

Captain Tom Macallister is  re-joining WASINC International after previously serving as the Director of Operations and Chief Pilot for WASINC’s former JALways division.   Currently Tom is a B737-800 Captain & Instructor for Skymark Airlines based in Kobe, Japan.

Tom began his aviation career in college at Florida Tech where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management and Flight Technology. Among many things, Tom brings to this team 24 years of aviation experience and over 12,000 hrs from such airlines as Business Express, Piedmont, Airtran, Shuttle America, TWA & American Airlines. His wife, Mary, also has 16 years in the industry as a Flight Attendant with USAirways.

Tom’s previous experience includes B747 Captain and Instructor for JALways, Proficiency Check Airman & simulator instructor for TWA and  Instructor Pilot for Shuttle America.   He has flown the B747, B737NG,  DC-9, MD-80, DHC7, DHC8, SF340, BE1900 and BE99.

Tom is a native of New Jersey but currently resides in Japan. He and his wife Mary are the proud parents of one son, Kona.

 


Robin Li

Effective March 1st, 2011 we am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Yunrao (Robin) Li as the General Manager – China for WASINC International.  Robin will be in charge of all aspects of our business in China including direct oversight of our local offices in Beijing and Shenzhen. 

Robin has a rich professional background in Chinese aviation and was one of the senior members of the China Foreign Pilots managing team instrumental in bringing the first and largest group of professional pilots into China from overseas.  Prior to joining WASINC International, he served in several management positions at SZA Real Estate and Shenzhen Airlines where he was in charge of designing human resource management systems, developing HR business and organizational strategies, labor cost statistical analysis, and reviewing, implementing and overseeing compensation and benefit regulations.  In addition, he served as the project manager for establishing the management control systems for some of Shenzhen Airlines subsidiary companies.

Robin graduated from the Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in Nanchang, China and received a Bachelor Degree in management.  In addition, he was an international exchange student through the university and lived and studied in New Zealand for approximately two years.  He is a member of the Australian Institute of Banking + Finance (ATBF).  Robin speaks native Mandarin and Cantonese and is fluent in English.

Dara Marias


General Counsel and V.P. of Human Resources

Dara Marias, Esq. currently serves as WASINC International’s General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources.  Dara has been affiliated with WASINC International from its inception and previously worked with its United States predecessor, World Aviation Systems, Inc.  In her tenure with World Aviation Systems, Inc., Dara served as its Vice President of Human Resources & Legal and its Executive Vice President.

Raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, aviation was always a part of Dara’s life.  Her family created and ran two very successful airlines:  Air Nevada Airlines (based in Nevada) and Pacific Wings (based in Hawaii).  Both airlines provided scheduled, charter and tour services.   Although not a pilot herself, Dara was taught at a very young age by her father the basics of flying as well the business aspects of running an airline.  Moreover, Dara has worked for both airlines in reservations, accounting, secretarial, ticket counter, and later as legal counsel.   She has also worked in marketing with extensive international travel. Flying and airline life have been a part of her life for as long as she can remember.

Dara graduated Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in International Economics, Finance and Commerce. In 1994, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a Juris Doctor and Masters in Social Work. After law school, she clerked in Nevada’s District Court for one year and then worked in private practice primarily practicing in contract, business and employment law. She has been affiliated with WASINC since January of 2002. 

Dara is married with two children. In her spare time, she serves as an advisor for both the Giving Grizzlies Community Service Club working with children in grades 1-5 teaching them about community service, as well as the Temple Beth Shalom Community Service Club.  In addition, together with her family, she created “The Butterfly Project” which raises money for the Brenda L. Caplan Memorial Scholarship fund in order to help educate individuals with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer issues.   Dara’ background in aviation, pilot leasing and the legal field, make her uniquely qualified to deliver the “Value Proposition” not only to our customers, but also to our Crewmembers. 

 

 


Brent Linville

Since 2008, Brent Linville has played an important role in the recruiting efforts of WASINC International.  He is currently in charge of the recruiting for Air China, Air China Cargo, Skymark Airines and Donghai Airline. Brent has spent over 10 years in the customer service industry and has held many leadership responsibilities. He is currently in the process of obtaining his Juris Doctorate Degree.

Lane Hymas

Lane Hymas joined WASINC International in April 2012. He is currently in charge of the recruiting for Sichuan Airlines and SF Express. 

Lane has spent over 12 years in the airline industry mainly in a supervisory role, handling all types of aircraft from general aviation to B747-400.

He has worked for Servisair, Atlantic Aviation, and Signature Flight Support.  At Servisair, he was certified Load Master for Japan Airlines.

 

 

 

 


Nami Hymas

Nami currently serves as our administrative assistant in our Finance and HR department.  Since joining our team, her main responsibilities have included handling our invoices, payroll, and office assistant responsibilities to keep our various offices running. 

Nami comes to us with a fluent understanding of English and Japanese. Her expertise in working with multinational organizations has been a great asset to our team.  She has served directly under Japan Airlines Station Manager, the Vice President of International Casino Marketing, and was the liaison for a prominent computer company in Japan.

 


Annie Gong

Annie currently serves as our administrative assistant in our Shenzhen, China office.  Since joining our team in 2009 her main responsibilities support for our pilots contracted with Shenzhen Airlines, translation services, and a liaison with our customers. 

In addition to the work she does directly with our pilot group, Annie plays an important role in our office as an assistant to the HR manager as well as to our executives.

Annie is a former real-estate agent in the Shekou area and brings with her a great knowledge of Shenzhen and understands our pilots needs when living abroad.

Jackie Deng

Jackie Deng is an administrative assistant of WASINC Beijing office.

She joined WASINC in March, 2011. She is in charge of supporting pilot for Hainan Airlines, Capital Airlines and several other airlines in China.

Zoe Li is an administrative assistant of WASINC Beijing office.

Captain Jorge Algara

Jorge Algara has accepted the responsibilities of Recruitment Supervisor - Latin America.

Captain Algara is an A320 Captain at Shenzhen Airlines.  His main responsibilities, in addition to flying a full schedule, will be to assist with our advertising and recruiting efforts in Latin America.

Jorge comes from an aviation family.  With uncles, cousins, aunts, neighbors and others working as pilots, he knew from an early age what he wanted to do.  His father was a longtime Mexicana Pilot, and a well respected official in ASPA - one of the largest pilot unions in Mexico.

From his private pilot training in Addison, Texas to rebuiding a damaged Grumman Tiger, to Captain of an A320 at Shenzhen Airlines, Captain Algara has has a wide range of flying experiences.  He flew for Allegro Air and Interjet prior to joining Shenzhen Airlines.  He has flown extensively in South and Central America, Mexico, the USA, Canada and the Carribean.  

We are thrilled to have Captain Algara assist us with promoting flying opportunities to the professional pilots in Mexico.  His business and aviation experience make him uniquely qualified to work in this capacity.

WASINC - Mexico will be based in Toluca, Mexico.  Along with providing support to candidates coming out of the Latin American region, we will offer documentation assistance and ATP training opportunities.

Elias Aguilar

Elias Aguilar is the newest member of the WASINC Intl. family.  He will be staffing the WASINC Mexico office, located in Toluca, Mexico. Aruna is an aviation consultant based in Toronto, Canada who is working with WASINC in expanding its activities in South and West Asia. He has over 30 years of experience in the aviation industry, most of it as a B747 flight crew member with Singapore Airlines and Japan Airlines.

Having lived and worked in Asia and North America, Aruna has developed a global network of aviation industry contacts and knowledgeable in all aspects of aviation industry.

A lifelong aviation enthusiast from a family of aviators, Aruna also provides other aviation solutions such as aircraft sourcing and maintenance support in addition to his work with WASINC.

Dalong Lin
