It is with great pleasure that I announce the assignment of Ms. Dara Marias as Vice President – Legal & Human Resources for World Aviation Systems, Inc. effective April 1st, 2008. Dara has been heavily involved as our outside legal counsel at WASINC from the very beginning some seven years ago and has been instrumental in our success. She will be directly responsible for all legal and human resource issues including but not limited to Employment Agreements, Employee Handbook, Payroll, Retirement Fund (401K), Insurance, and all human resource/legal policies. Zach Franklin, Shirl Thomas, and all contractual vendors (Merrill Lynch, E.J. Phelps, Paychex, etc.) will report directly to her. Dara will report directly to Steven Turner and will be based in the Las Vegas headquarters.

Dara has been raised in the airline industry. She was born and raised in Las Vegas. Her father – a famous dentist by profession – is also a private pilot and with his passion for flying, started and ran two very successful airlines. In 1978, her family created Air Nevada Airlines which primarily provided scheduled, charter and tour service from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. Later on her family was involved in creating Pacific Wings Airlines in Hawaii. Although not a pilot herself, she was taught at a very young age the basics of flying as well as all the components that keep an airline in the air. Dara has worked for both airlines in reservations, accounting, secretarial, ticket counter, and later as legal counsel. She has also worked in marketing with extensive international travel. Flying and airline life have been a part of her life for as long as she can remember.

Dara graduated from Georgetown University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in International Economics, Finance and Commerce. In 1994, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a Juris Doctor and Masters in Social Work. After law school, she clerked in Nevada’s District Court for one year and then worked in private practice primarily practicing in contract, business and employment law. She has been WASINC’s legal counsel for the past 7 years.

Dara is married with two elementary-aged children. In her spare time, she serves as an advisor for the Giving Grizzlies Community Service Club working with children in grades 1-5 teaching them about community service. She also serves on the Board of Genetics for Life, a non-profit foundation. Her favorite times are spent with family and she especially loves to travel.

Dara’s background in aviation, the legal field, and history from day one with WASINC makes her uniquely qualified in delivering the “Value Proposition” to our customers and providing the support to the operational group they need and deserve.
